Well, we're back and the re-entry has been easier for me than for Hoda. I can't even imagine the jet lag she's battling.

I'm very excited about our new contest – EVERYONE HAS A STORY.

Already your stories are poring in and they are compelling and moving.

Here's how it's going to work: You send in your personal story in a 500 word or less essay to www.todayshow.com (look for link in upper left hand of the page). A panel of judges, including David Friedman, my writing partner, and I, will choose the 8 best essays and write a brand new song inspired by each of them.

Every week a winner's story will be read on the air and they will immediately be flown to NY accompanied by one guest, and will be present in the Today Show studio when their song is performed by a Broadway singer.

There are lots of surprises planned, so I can't describe the excitement we all feel regarding this “first time ever” contest.

Everyone does have a story, “as different as night and day” and we can't wait to hear yours!
